| Pop’s foot got infected and he was taken Somis Vet twice. The vet told the owner to just watch it. Now the issue has become urgent because it has ruptured and bleeding. We need to get Pop to the vet, but they spent all they had on the last vet that didn’t do anything. Update on Pop: He was seen by Dr. Slaton and has been on antibiotics and having a bandage change daily. We jus received the culture back and culture showed a severe e coli infection, and the antibiotic he was on, clindamycin isn’t the best one for this type of bacteria, even though we are seeing improvement. Pop is going back to the vet today 3/17/26 and will add another antibiotic to the treatment. We are also planning on doing surgery on Thursday to get a biopsy and try and fix the wound. It still could be some type of tumor, but have to wait and see.
Pop has been having almost daily bandage changes and now is scheduled for a resection surgery on 4/2/26. It was determined that Pop’s best chances were to amputate the leg. Dr. Slaton performed the surgery and as of 5/21/26 when he is getting the sutures removed, he is healing well. This was a long and expensive process. His owners never gave up on him. A huge thanks goes out to Dr. Slaton. It really takes a village. Please donate ! |
