You have all been along for Dora’s journey with Furry Funding and Dog Days Search & Rescue. She is safe at SPARC and doing great but she is starting to stress in a kennel environment. Can you foster her? Are you looking to adopt a great dog!
She is amazing and with the training she has received she deserves to be out of the shelter and into a home!
When we first met Dora it was during heavy California rains at the end of December. One of our team members, Cathy was taking groceries to her mother who is on hospice. She saw a beautiful large black lab mix dog with a pink collar running and crossing busy streets! Fortunately Cathy was able to secure her and get a leash on her. Dora was relieved and sweet and happy to be in the car.
We posted this girl on the lost and found pages. She was microchipped but it was not registered. She was so sweet and kept trying to pull our hands toward her to pet her. We took her to the Agoura shelter eventually in hopes her owner would go looking for her but no one ever came for her. We were heartbroken.
While in the shelter after her stray hold was up Dora got to have play yard time but unfortunately she showed to be dog reactive. She is young and barely a year old and we knew she just needed training. We pleaded to get her out and our friends from Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center opened their doors to her where she has been since. We raised money (thanks to you) and have had a private trainer working with her weekly while there, to help with her dog reactivity. She is doing so good with training but we know that she could excel in a home environment! She wants to be with people! We hate to see her stressed out there.
Dora is available for adoption and needs to be the only dog in a home but we promise you she will give you the love of many dogs! We are willing to pay for some continued training as needed to help transition her to a home. Shelter life is not good for dogs like her. A foster home would make a huge difference to a dog like Dora.
Look at this sweet face! We have to continue to help her!
Please share her far and wide! Contact SPARC if you are able to help!
Thank you!!
