Penelope is one of our Partner Rescues personal Pup. Dog Days Search and Rescue and Jennifer do amazing work for the community and Jen needed help. Her dog Penelope has a cancerous mass in her mouth, partially blocking her airway when she lays certain ways. In order to debulk it or remove it, she needed a specialist and even then it’s a hard surgery. The cancer had not metastasized. With the help of one of our founder’s mother, Barbara who donated $4,000 for Penelope’s care we were able to get Penelope seen by a cancer
specialist at VCA Los Angeles. The recommend treatment was a series of four shots (Melanoma vaccinations) to see if the tumor would shrink. They have completed the series of shots and unfortunately, although the treatment slowed it down and gave her some additional time, Penelope has been placed on palliative care. Jen knows Penelope’s days are numbered, so she is going to enjoy the time left and shower her with love.
