Ziggy was adopted from the Camarillo shelter and is only 11 months old. He has been through so much in his short life. He has been diagnosed with a severely compromised immune system caused by an extremely low neutrophil (white blood cell) count, making it difficult for his body to fight off infections.
Over the past several weeks, Ziggy has spent two days hospitalized and has had countless veterinary visits. His adopted mom has already paid more than $5,000 out of pocket to get him the care he desperately needs. Despite everything they have done, they still don’t know the underlying cause of his condition.
A veterinary specialist has now recommended a bone marrow test, which is the next critical step in determining why Ziggy’s neutrophil count is so low. Unfortunately, the procedure will cost $1,800, and Ziggy’s owner has exhausted her savings on his medical care, She simply cannot afford any more. She has reached out to the Camarillo shelter, and they have turned their back on Ziggy. Furry Funding worked with a local veterinarian and has determined that the bone marrow would not give the answers needed. At this point in time Ziggy is doing well, so we are taking a wait and watch protocol. If anything changes, Ziggy’s mom will reach out.
Ziggy is a sweet, loving puppy and we are happy he has a loving home and is doing well.
