Scarlett is a very special 10-month-old puppy that was rescued by a gentleman and his wife who are managers of a house for recovering addicts. They took Scarlett in when she was 3 months old because someone was about to abandon her on the streets. They couldn’t leave her behind. She has been a part of their family ever since and has become their “baby.” She is deeply loved and cared for in the recovery home. Scarlett is a joy to everyone that lives there. She went out to do her nightly business and when she came in, she was holding her leg up. They rushed her to the emergency and since they didn’t have the money the emergency vet told them that just the bare minimum—wrapping her leg and providing medication—would cost $1,064. They were kind enough to reduce it to $800, but they still have to make payments on that bill. They were also told that she will likely need surgery and that she needs a proper cast as soon as possible.
That’s where Furry Funding came in. We got her into Dr. Slaton’s office for x-rays which we covered. It was determined that she did in fact need surgery and time was critical. Thanks to a lot of generous donors who donated and raised over $4,000 to get the surgery done by an orthopedic vet that also reduced his price.
